Asia Sutherland
Asia Sutherland is a native of Durham, North Carolina and a graduate of the illustrious Howard University. While at Howard, she majored in Communications & TV Production, receiving her Bachelors of Arts degree in 2006. After graduating with honors, Asia moved to New York to actively pursue a career in TV production management, gaining entry-level positions with MTV/MTV2, Vh1, and BET. Expanding her career in public service in 2008, Asia began working as a youth development advocate at Harlem Children’s Zone, eventually transitioning into a management position as Program Director at Hip Hop 4 Life in 2012. White at HH4L, she led a team of educators and managed youth development programs and federal education grants in over thirty New York City public schools.
Consistently pursuing her passion in the events industry, Asia took a leap of faith in 2015 and transitioned into a full-time entrepreneur; specializing in project management and live event execution. She has managed events for clients such as WEEN, David Stark Design, Like The River Salon, ESSENCE, A3C Festival, Goldenvoice Productions and many more.
After more than 10 years of service with WEEN, Asia currently serves as Executive Director of the WEEN Academy. She led the first virtual academy class in 2020, graduating 30 women ranging from ages 21-47.
